"Physiotherapy at 89"

About: Brooksby Day Hospital / Physiotherapy

(as the patient),

I'm 89 years old, since early in the year I have been receiving physiotherapy from Fiona out of the Largs Hospital. My GP was concerned over the falls I had at home, particularly as my skin is very thin and falls caused the skin to break and peel away. My GP suggested a course of physiotherapy might help. It certainly has.

Fiona has always been prompt with her appointments, has treated me with respect and dignity at all times and is a very special person. She gave me exercises to strengthen my legs and showed me how to move around the house more safely by using supports. The exercises were not easy at first but with perseverance I have managed to build up strength and have not had any falls since then.

I should add that over the years I have had a number of different treatments through the NHS, they have always been fantastic.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear lynxgc75,

Thank you for taking the time to share this lovely post. It is delightful to hear that all your experiences have been fantastic. It is particularly heartening to hear how beneficial the physiotherapy was in preventing you from falling. Apart form the obvious, this must have improved your confidence and your wellbeing no-end. You must take some credit too, well done for your hard work. I will pass your gratitude to Fiona and the team too, I am sure it will be very welcome.

I hope you continue go from strength to strength,

best wishes,

Eunice
