"Disgrace"

About: Kingshurst Medical Practice

I have a 5 week old baby and have been trying to get an appointment for over a week now. My daughter is covered in a rash, and every time I ring it's either the busy tone on the other end of the receiver or they finally answer and there's no appointments, I get told to go to the walk in centre. I live opposite the doctors why should I travel and take my 5 week old daughter to Solihull on the bus. It's a disgrace.

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

We continue to increase the number of staff and appointments we provide at the surgery.

In the past 3 years the number of clinicians has doubled and the number of appointments has increased by 2.5 times.

However as you may have noted from media reports - there is increasing demand on GP services and the government continue to reduce funding to GP services. This means we are now at maximum capacity. This does not help resolve your concerns and I can understand your frustrations.

I would like to make it clear that we would not turn a child with a rash away without first discussing with a doctor and we had plenty of appointments free over the Christmas period and early in the new year.

We are taking on a further 2 members of clinical staff and you should see he appointments become more readily available.
