"24 hour care!"

About: Sandwell General Hospital / Neurology

(as a service user),

I am really disgusted in Sandwell hospital telling me that my mum will need 24 hour care at home. Yes she would get it but she didn’t get it at Sandwell hospital West Bromwich.

We had to come as a family and put her on bed pan and feed her because staff didn't and now you are saying she needs 24 hour care and you need an answer now.

No second meeting to discuss just a phone call to say you want her out. How disgusting and just what I said all along you just want a bed and patients are just statistics.

I am very sorry about how you felt that your mother did not receive a good care at Sandwell Hospital. We aim to move patients to the care setting that is most appropriate to their needs at the right time and we want to make sure that a proper care plan is made in advance for patients, ensuring they still receive the right care after they leave the hospital. Would you please contact the PALS and Complaints team on 0121 507 5893 who will be able to look into this for you. Kind regards, Toby Lewis, Chief Executive.

Morning, I don’t know how me giving my family members details are going to Help.

In my opinion, the hospital is under staffed don’t think patients get the care they deserve and are constantly stressed. It took the family to come in and look after patient. When staff say you have to wait as seeing to another patient when your family member is dying to use the bed pan and can not hold it. How can care homes be any different. What you need to do is go and see for yourself and see how staff work and how your hospitals are run; smelly toilets, tissues under beds and syringes left on chairs with liquid still in them and wrappers on floor.
