"Ward 23 - Miscarriage"

About: University Hospital (Coventry) / Gynaecology

I sadly suffered a MMC in July 2017 and was admitted to ward 23 from the maternity unit.

The nurses provided me with so much support and gave me time to consider my options and made me aware of help that was available to me.

I was booked in for a ERPC 2 days later which does involve having to wait for a slot in Emergency theatre to become available. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink but after waiting a while I was hooked up to a drip to keep me going. The nurses communicated with me often and in the end the doctor went down the the theatre and made a space for me to go in for my treatment as the wait was unfair.

I was so scared but the anaesthetists were so reassuring and when I woke up I was very upset and the nurses were so supportive. They let me go home when I had eaten and been to the toilet but gave me lots of advice and reminded me of where to go for support.

The NHS have been very good to me in my time of need.

Firstly, I would like to offer my sincere condolences for your loss.

While this must have been such an upsetting time for you and your family, I was pleased to read that the staff had taken such good care of you and had made sure you had access to support if you needed it.

I will pass on your comments to the Matron in charge of Ward 23 so she can thank the team.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on NHS Choices, we really do appreciate it.
