"Breast Ultrasound"

About: Crawley Hospital East Surrey Hospital

(as the patient),

After waiting nearly 3 weeks for a 2 week urgent appointment for a breast ultrasound for a P3 deep lump I am still without a diagnosis due to the terrible ultrasound experience I received.

Not only do I feel that the person did not know where they was looking they also did not know what they were looking for and asked me for guidance. They went over my breast so quick and lightly that it felt pointless them even trying. As my husband put it, it was like a child colouring in a colouring book. I was in and out so quick. The staff member even queried my dimpling and made me feel such a nuisance. They didn’t wear gloves and the nurse was out of the room the majority of the time.

I tried to contact my consultant to relay my disappointment and worry and the secretary was lovely but couldn't help me because the consultant is on leave.

I had a great first appointment for my initial assessment at east Surrey and the consultant was lovely and sent me for a breast scan.  but nothing was good about my experience at crawley, I feel that notes were not read and the investigation not preformed properly.

I have young children and as you can imagine if worse case senerio time is of the essence. I am a young mother and very worried about what the diagnosis will be and worried that leaving it will have an affect on my outcome.

So anxious.

I have no idea what to do.

Dear Mum M I am sorry that you feel the service provided was not as you expected I can only apologise as that is not how we wish to be portrayed. We take pride in the service we provide and I am sure the clinician carrying out the ultrasound scan will be horrified to hear your thoughts. Can I ask you please to contact me direct to look into your case specifically in the first instance by email with your contact details to angela.eiffert@nhs.net.

I can only apologise once again.

Kind regards
