I had an operation to take bone from my hip to rebuild my hand as I had been suffering with my hand for a while and the consultant thought the best way forward was to rebuild the bone in my hand.
After I came round from my op I was in severe pain in my back, hip, leg, and bum. I later discovered through ct and mri scans that I had degenerative disc disease, spinal arthritis and neuralgia and they suspected I was also suffering from sciatica. May I point out that these where underlying conditions and that it wasn’t the op that caused them, it was through the op that they where eventually picked up.
I was also suffering with my knees so my doctor sent for another MRI and turns out I also have arthritis in my knees and the op wasnt 100% successful so I still have arthritis in my hand..
Through all of the care I received I was very impressed with the nhs. My doctor is amazing and so understanding and gives me the proper care I need I can’t fault my doctor for anything. I’ve also been treated by the ambulance service who have always done an amazing job when I’ve called them out they take time and patience to deal with you and give you the best care possible. The paramedics that have came out to me several times have treated me with respect, dignity, (when I’m laid up looking my worst) and given me the best care possible.
Ive had to go to hospital so many times with these conditions as they cause me severe pain to the point I can’t even get up to go to the toilet. The stays I’ve had in hospital I’ve never had a complaint about, the staff at the hospital are always amazing and take care of me in the best way possible, when I’m in pain and need pain relief I’ve never had to wait long. Even when I’m stuck in the bed and have to have a bed pan or bed bath they treat you with dignity and respect.
Through the past few years of having these conditions I’ve got to say thanks to all the nhs staff I’ve dealt with, they are truly amazing and don’t get enough credit for what they do, from my gp, paramedics, nurses, doctors and everyone else they truly deserve more credit than they get.
"Truly amazing"
