"My stay in cardiology ward"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I had attended a routine 8weekly check up with my cardiology specialist nurse, when there she noticed that I was retaining an excessive amount of fluid all over my body, she immediately took action and had me admitted for IV therapy. Really an exceptionally good judgement call. After one night in the admission ward I was transferred into the cardiology ward, here I'm lost for words where to begin.

I have never been on any other ward in FVRH or any other hospital where truely the ward should be held up as a shining example as to what hospital life should be.

The team from the domestics to the consultants and everything inbetween all worked together and the result of this unity is so beneficial to the patient.

The ward is spotless and a credit to the domestics who do such a thorough job and not just a quick dust where it can  be seen , they then serve all the meals with courtesy at all times.

The nurses and auxiliaries are so lovely, so approachable, no question is to silly to ask and no request to much effort to carry out.

There was not one single person letting the team down but equally I couldn't pick out any one person being better than the others as they all treated the patient with respect and dignity at every turn.

I hope anyone facing going into this ward, if your feeling anxious or apprehensive please don't be it really is a fantastic ward

Dear SE18

Thanks so much for your kind words concerning your stay in the Cardiology ward after you met with one of our specialist heart failure nurses. I am delighted that your experience was a positive one. I'm really pleased that you mentioned so many of the different people involved in your care, including our domestic staff. Carolyn Probert, our Charge Nurse, recognises the importance of every individual in looking after our patients and she leads a fantastic team of highly committed staff. She also links up with other team members, including the specialist nurses you saw, to make being in hospital as pleasant as possible. It's lovely to hear how that team work has worked well for you.

I hope you are now feeling much better and thanks again for taking the time to provide us with this feedback.

With best wishes

Catherine

Dear SE18,

On behalf of all the staff within Cardiology, I hope you are continuing to recover at home and keeping well.

Your comments are very much appreciated, and I have ensured that all the team are aware of the fact that you have taken the time to put them on the Care Opinion. Such positive comments reinforce the fact that we are doing what is needed to support patients at a time that can be frightening and stressful.

At all times our aim is to provide a safe and pleasant environment, with the patient at the centre of everything we do, from as you said the domestic to the consultant and everyone in between.

Take care of yourself

Carolyn
