Myocardial Infarction
Waking from sleep...chest feeling heavy
Skin cold and clammy...mind in a daze
Breathing is laboured...lungs feel half empty
Fear grips your heart...all in a haze
Paramedics are summoned...they appear very calm
Take control of your life...stabilise your position
Load you aboard their life saving conveyance
Rush you to where you will find your salvation
Upon your arrival at the coronary unit
Things start to happen with incredible speed
Nurses attend you with care and devotion
Every action they take...just right for your need
Hooked up to a monitor which scans your condition
Brought back from the brink of the dark
You lie there in bed gazing out of the window
Memories flood in...some good and some stark
After the tests and results are collated
Once the threat to your health is exposed
The doctor will give his final conclusion
The nurses continue to keep you composed
Sitting there in the chair by your bed
Looking intently at pink painted walls
You hear from the nurse that its now time to go
Return to the life that your home and hearth calls
Written from personal experience...
"Myocardial Infarction..."
