"Hospital Grounds"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary

(as other),

My husband and I got off the bus in Alexandra Parade to visit hospital.  We thought it was filthy not what you would expect for a hospital. On leaving after appointment we had to go through the tunnel to get our bus for home. What a shock to see such litter and cigarette ends. Also staff in uniform using it and then go back into hospital to deal with patients. I think the area certainly needs a deep clean and to be patrolled. Not a good impression for hospital. Hope this comment arrives at appropriate person.

Dear Hospital User

I was sorry to read about your experience at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and I agree that this does not create a good impression. Smoking on hospital grounds is not acceptable and directly contravenes the Board’s policy, however, there are a number of challenges in enforcing a smoke free environment across our hospital sites.

I will share your post with my Facilities colleague’s and ask that they respond to the issues you have raised.

Kind Regards

Nicole

While I agree there are challenging issues with enforcing the smoking ban there are no challenging issues with someone going out and sweeping area daily clear of cigarette ends as what is lying about is not just one days. A power wash occasionally would not go amiss either.
