"Im extremely happy with the overall care"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

What I liked

We had to take my son to A+E after he shut his thumb in the front door and ripped the finger nail from the bed.

When we arrived we were soon very quickly and taken into the childrens waiting area.

After having XRAYS and the Dr checking that nothing was broken. he decided that my son would need an operation to put the nail back into place. First they said he would need to go to Bham Childrens Hospital as they were few anaethetisits that would be happy giving a 2 year old a General Anaethestic. But the staff went out of their way to check that there was one that was within the hospital.

Staff at A+E were fab and made sure we knew what was going on. Childrens ward was excellent.

When we returned to the trauma clinic we had to wait for 3 hours but all the time we were there we were told what was going on.... im a true believer that so long as you are told then that is acceptable and not only that, it could be you that is being the hold up for people behind you, so really you have no right to complain.

It was quite traumatic for both me and my son when they dressing was removed and I got very upset and left the room, was taken into another room and comforted by a nurse which is great that they could see its not just the patient!

Im happy to say his thumb has healed brilliantly

Anything else?

We do visit the hospital for other various appointments and i have no complaints what so ever with the professional care that we receive.

I also believe that if you treat the staff there the way you expect to be treated then you will receive the same...nobody wants to be treated like a piece of rubbish - and half the time it isnt the front end staffs fault.
