"Don’t waste your time"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Accident & emergency

Just got back from visiting Good Hope and I’m absolutely appalled. My partner was sent to the major department of A&E where we were just sat around on our own for most of the time, after a 2 minute check over the nurse said she’d get some notes and then she’d be back, but she must of decided to just forget about us. She also said she’d get some cups for the water machine as my partner felt very faint and she said to drink some water.. again, completely forgotten, I had to go and ask another member of staff for cups myself.

Lastly, we decided to leave after an already terrible experience only to eventually see this ‘nurse’ again, she asked my partner how he felt and after he said he still didn’t feel himself and felt sick, she just WALKED OFF with no reply or regard to him whatsoever. I could not stress enough to AVOID this hospital at all costs!

Dear Anonymous,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your posting.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your partner’s attendance to the Accident and Emergency Department at Good Hope Hospital.

As a Trust, we are very sorry that your partner was not treated in a timely manner and that he was not given a drink whilst he was in the department.

If you would be willing to provide further details such as your partner’s name, address, date of birth and a contact number for you, as a Trust, we would welcome the opportunity to look into this matter further.

You can do this by contacting a member of the Patient Services Team on 0121 424 0808 or you can email your concerns to bhs-tr.Complaints-ConcernsandCompliments@nhs.net who can then take the necessary action.

If you do contact our team, can I please ask you to advise the member of staff that you are responding to your NHS Choices Posting.

I will forward your posting to the senior management team for A&E, so that they are aware of your comments.

Regards

Jenny Langham

Patient Services Officer
