"An enormous improvement on the last..."

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

What I liked

My father, William, was admitted to A&E at QEQM on 5th June 2011 and later transferred to The Seabathing ward. I visited him there from 6 - 11 June and was very impressed by the care and attention he received from the nursing staff.

I have, in the past, on behalf of my father, had cause to complain about the orthopaedic dept at this hospital but am extremely pleased to observe how much the treatment of patients has improved in the last four years.

A big thank you to the whole team for making my father's stay as stress-free as possible.

I just wish that the hospital transport service could up its game in the same way.

What could be improved

As above. Hospital transport was arranged for Saturday 11 June but for some inexplicable reason failed to materialise. Luckily, I was still in the area and was therefore able to collect my father and take him home. Presumably, had I not been available, my father would have been bed-blocking until the following Monday - surely not an ideal situation for the over stretched NHS?
