About: Kingston Hospital

Anything else?

I had a 'Lords procedure'. When I researched this I noted that all the incisions were vertical.

In my case it was horizontal.

In my experience the horizontal cut was slowed in the healing as the constant downward pull of gravity, pulled at the incision and the stitches, which caused a great deal of pain.

I respectfully accept that what ever decision the consultant made at the time was in my best healthy interest.

However I cannot help suggesting that if at all possible a horizontal incision is made when ever possible to allow less discomfort and a quicker healing.

Or to put it clearly. Cut open hanging ball with a horizontal cut it will take longer to heal than a vertical cut that will naturally pull together the incision.
