"Things could have been explained better"

About: Ealing / Assessment Team St Bernard's Wing / 136 Suite

(as the patient),

I had a mental breakdown at the beginning of 2018, the police and ambulance were called and i was placed under section 136. I feel that the police could have done a better job by not having so many of them there for just one female in her 20's. I was then brought to the hospital (West London Mental Health) (St Bernard's) where I was placed in a cold isolation room that stank of urine. This was for 4 or 5 long cold hours in which I was calm and asked for a blanket over and over again.

After this initial assessment I was moved downstairs to a warmer room one of the Doctors, it was around 10 pm and by this time and I had not eaten but was given a cup of tea, a sandwich and a e-cigarette I was told I should be charged for (£2.50). However I did not  have my phone or any money and asked for my parents to be called so I could go home after 72 hours.

Furthermore by 11 pm another doctor whose name or face I cant remember because I didn't have my glasses then placed me under section 5(2) where I was told if I did not comply I would be essentially held against my will and further sectioned. This did eventually happen and I was sectioned under section 2 for 1 month before discharge.

I feel that for my first time being sectioned everything happened too fast and all these processes where not explained to me correctly as I did not fully understand what was happening. Especially the consultant  who prescribed clonazepam that was not conducive to my  condition, especially being in that controlled environment that felt manipulative.

Treatment at home after discharge from the ward with ECATT was great and with EIS even better.
