About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult Mental Health Services - Community (County)

(as the patient),

I have been going to two different care groups that have been wonderful and really helped me cope with my mental health, being with people who understand how you feel. For 10years now to be told they will be stopped unless we run them ourselves. I am absolutely gutted and disgusted that we are being treated this way. Mental health issues seldom go away I have suffered for over 20years. Taking this away from us is going to leave some of us in despair. we now have to find funding. unless you suffer with mental health issues you don't have a clue what it feels like. I feel like this is pulling the rug out from under us, I really benefit from these groups. Stop taking our lifeline away from us.

Firstly thank you for your feedback regarding your concerns and distress surrounding the two groups within the Newark and Sherwood area. I am sorry for any distress this may have caused you, I appreciate that change is very difficult and at times and can feel unmanageable. The groups within our area have been a real support for a lot of our clients and I do understand that the changes within the groups must be very distressing for all.

Having met with the Rosehips Group last week I was really encouraged by the support you gave each other and felt the strong bond of friendship that was within the group. I was very encouraged by this and I have every confidence that as a group you will be able to continue meeting and continue to support each other within your recovery journeys.

If as a service we can support you to develop this please do not hesitate to contact myself. My contact number is 0115 854 2216.

Best Wishes

Mental illness is something that stays with you. You are very lucky if its a one time thing. Reading and studying it is one thing, suffering with it is another.

I can tell you these groups help because we understand one another without judgement. We do not, as you like to put it, recover we cope because we have had people to talk to and have learned to trust the carers who have been wonderful to us over time.

I believe a lot of people will relapse through your decisions, which however much you sugarcoat it goes back to money.

Hello

I agree groups are a real support and offer non judgemental friendship and support. I am really please to hear that your particular group will be continuing, run by yourselves. Once again I wish the group well for the future and I am confident that you will all continue to benefit from the group and it will go from strength to strength.

Best Wishes
