"My stay at day procedures unit for a laparoscopy"

About: Solihull Hospital / General surgery Solihull Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I recently attended the day procedures unit at Solihull Hospital. I am not one to usually write reviews but the whole experience was incredible, from the moment I got there the staff were great my nurses (jenny and vera) looked after me constantly I never needed anything because they were always checking in.

After the doctor and anaethetist did their rounds, I was told straight away which order the list would be so I had an idea of my wait. Again the anaethetist (emma) was so lovely! She couldn't have made me feel more comfortable if she tried. Such a good natured woman.

Once it was my turn I was collected by the ODP (glen) who again made sure I understood everything and as soon as it was time to put the cannula  in he could see I was petrified I didn't even have to say anything he took my hand straight away and I felt so much better.

Once I woke up the aftercare from Jenny was great she helped me get myself together when I was ready I had hot chocolate, squash, water, biscuits and a sandwich. Honestly they couldn't do enough for us. I wanted to write this as there is not enough recognition is the NHS for their hard work and 24/7 care.

So huge thank you to the day procedures unit and the gynaecology theatre staff, every single member at all phases of the journey at Solihull Hospital for your amazing care, I couldn't recommend you enough!

Dear LS10,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your posting.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding the care and treatment you received at Solihull Hospital, under the care of the Gynaecology team.

It is lovely to read such positive comments, especially as you had to undergo a procedure, which I appreciate can be a very daunting experience. I am pleased that the staff were able to reassure you and make you as comfortable as possible and you felt you care was amazing.

I do agree with you, NHS staff really are hardworking and dedicated to their profession.

I shall forward your posting to the senior management teams and ask that it is shared with all the staff, particularly the staff you have mentioned in your posting.

I am sure the staff will be absolutely delighted to read your positive patient experience.

I do hope you are making a good recovery following your procedure.

Best wishes

Miss J. Langham

Patient Services Officer
