"Requested they continue my repeat prescriptions..."

About: Millway Medical Practice

As an 82 year old I have been very favorably impressed by the speed with which I have been able to see a doctor when necessity required it.

I recently suddenly found myself suffering an unpleasant skin infection which required urgent antibiotics and having failed to get through on the telephone went directly to the surgery.

The receptionist immediately grasped the urgency and although all doctors were engaged with pre-arranged appointments quickly slotted me in with an appointment an hour or so away - rather than hang around the surgery waiting I returned home and had barely arrived when a doctor phoned to ask me to return and he would see me immediately; this I did and was provided with the necessary prescription without further delay.

I appreciate the demands made on a busy surgery and therefore have always insisted they disregard my age and having simply provided my repeat prescriptions leave me to contact them as and when I am ill and in need of treatment.

Nonetheless I continue to receive requests to attend relevant clinics, vaccinations, etc related both to my age and ailments.

As someone with experience of many GP practices over the years I think this, albeit busy surgery, offers perhaps the most splendidly efficient and friendly service I can recall - long may it continue.

Thank you for your positive comments regarding the surgery and staff, they will be passed on.

I am pleased you was seen and treated on the same day without delay.

I can appreciate you not wanting to be contacted all the time , however we do like to ensure that all patients are aware of the services we provide so they have at least been given the option of whether they would like to attend or participate, of course as you know the choice is always yours.

For any future prescription queries you may have you can now email us at millway.scriptquery@nhs.net or asked to be called by our prescription clerk who can deal with any prescription issues

Best wishes
