When I am able to access care and appointments (which is seldom to never) the staff do not treat me with dignity and respect. The care system appears to be run predominantly via technology and bedside manner has gone out of the window. It is very difficult to contact and access information and care. I do not feel I understand my condition fully due to the lack of adequate information sharing at the surgery. Were it not for my community nurse I would despair of the care system in general, and I feel that I may not even be alive without them going above and beyond. I have several chronic conditions that impact on my stamina and it is detrimental in many respects to have to leave a consultation to queue to make an appointment, when it is already so difficult - and at times dangerous - to leave the house without my oxygen. It is very frustrating that my care does not have a face - that instead of continuity of carer I am told ' but we have the computer'. This is absolutely not acceptable. The computer is already failing miserably at getting me an appointment to see the health professional I need to see, how can I trust it to manage my care? It feels that a caseload of 19000 patients with 14 GPs must be umanageable at best - this does not seem proportionate to the intended demographic of the surgery and I am concerned that the patients already accessing care are losing out.
