"If I had to stay in hospital again must ..."

About: Basildon University Hospital

What I liked

I felt I had to write and tell you about my stay in Elsdon Ward, I had a hysterectomy on Fri 1st April 2011, and my stay was for 4 days.

I cannot thank the staff enough, all staff I came in contact with were happy, helpful, nothing too much trouble, if they didn't have time to deal with something they would tell you up front, but then let you know how long they would be. I was a little unsure of what had been done to me, the nurse explained everything clearly but made sure I understood.

You can see the staff have a good working relationship with each other and work really well as a team, I can honestly say that it's the first time I have enjoyed a stay in hospital.

People are often to quick to complain about service but I think we should praise when service has excelled expectations.

I had an extremely bad care experience with my elderly father in law, but your staff were amazing with one elderly patient, who was very disorientated & quiet, she had a couple of accidents in bed and the nursing staff took great care to make her feel that it was not a problem when changing her, and did their best to make sure she didn't get upset, they fed her and made sure her needs were met, it was wonderful to see such caring staff.

I think they should all have a pat on the back, they work very hard and they should told how much they are appreciated.

Elsdon staff you are all fantastic, thank you
