"Breast lump examination"

About: Borders General Hospital / Day Procedure Unit

(as the patient),

I was referred to Borders General Hospital after finding a lump in my breast and was thereafter sent an appointment.

When I arrived I was taken very promptly and was seen by a registrar who couldn't have been nicer. I was very worried, but he helped me feel more at ease. He then explained that the appointment was a 'one-stop' appointment whereby I would be examined, then given an ultrasound and a mammogram and then I would be given my results all there and then. Every step of the way was explained to me and each individual that I met with during the appointment was very pleasant and helpful.

When I first arrived I fully expected to have to go back at a later date to receive my results so for me this new 'one-stop' appointment service has been invaluable - no worrying for perhaps a few more weeks. I am more than happy with the care I received and would like to thank all the staff who helped me today.
