I saw a Rhuematologist at Bath BMI who referred me for a CT scan of my ribs and lungs. The referral clearly stated to look for supposed rib fractures and any lung inflammation. The Radiologist failed to pick right rib fracture despite being directed where to look for it.
I sort a second opinion in London on the scan and I can confirm all rib fractures and much more was reported on by the Consultant Radiologist in London.
An independent second opinion found much more and all rib fractures from the outset.
The evaluation of my second opinion against the original opinion from BAth BMI are almost worlds apart. I am private patient paying for the CT image report at Bath BMI and found this failure of the Radiologist unacceptable and the response a disgrace from Bath BMI.
They are paid by private patients to get their reporting right and not wrong and in my opinion they were sloppy in their of CT image reporting. They are paid to sit in front of the images and take as long as it takes to get accurate reporting in particular as the Radiologist was given clear instructions as what to look for. Couldn’t be made more simple.
In view of my experience with this department I never recommended hospital for Thoracic CT imaging at this stage.
The failure to report correctly patient image results can be detrimental to patient safety.
"Would not recommend, extremely poor service."
