i was told that my husband was being dressed ready to come home at lunchtime,he arrived at 6pm,wearing just a hospital gown and a thin pair of hospital pyjamas, his shoes hadnt been done up properly and one foot was hanging out,the ambulance staff had a job manoevering him into his ground floor bedroom,he was missing his dressing gown and slippers,he had a bag of medication with him,but no note stating when he'd had his last medication, just a letter for our GP. In my view,he came home a darn sight sicker than he went in,and within a couple of days he ended up in Northgate Hospital GP unit, where he has just been put on the Liverpool Pathway, I blame the awful way he was treated at James Paget for his rapid decline after my last report,I did receive a call from a matron who was clueless, and was very vague and unhelpful, and no matter how many times they phone me,nothing they say will alter the fact that they messed up bigtime with a very sick man,Im not stupid,I knew from the original diagnosis that I was going to lose him,I foolishly thought that hospitals were meant to help the sick, and relieve pain, not add to it, My husband is now at deaths door, after putting up a phenominal fight for 20 long hard months,he may or may not have gone on longer, but im sure the neglect and poor care he received has shortened his life,so much for "First Do No Harm"!

We encourage patients and their carers to raise concerns with our staff whilst they are in the hospital – through the Ward sister or matron. This allows us to review our practices and make improvements where necessary. The Patient Advice and Liaison Service can also take issues forward if they can't be resolved on the ward. The Matron has made contact with this lady to look at all the issues she has raised.
