"The time taken to allow visitors in"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Geriatric Assessment

(as a relative),

My brother was transferred to station 16 in Ayr on December 22.  As a regular visitor I never once noted the outer door being open at 2pm for visiting. It is frequently 15 minutes after opening time before we are allowed in and then we are barred from his room for another 10 - 15 minutes as his is always the last to be done.  As I have to leave for the  14:54 bus this often means that what should be at least 45 minutes of visiting is only 15.

If this was an occasional occurrence then I could understand but not every day.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear clonmel1,

I am really sorry, this must be so infuriating. I have passed this on to the team to look into.

When people are ill and when they are in hospital, time with loved ones is very important and precious. Thank you so much for taking time to let us know about this. I will post an update on this site when we have more information form the ward.

I hope your brother is recovering well,

Best wishes,

Eunice
