"2 week wait for cancer concerns"

About: Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

My local GP, correction, Nurse Practitioner referred me to Barnsley hospital after I presented with symptoms that could have been cancer. I was seen within 2 days by a Consultant who then referred me for a colonoscopy, which took place the week after. The colonoscopy team were excellent and talked me through the procedure, I believe they were also Nurse Practitioners of some description. I was reassured at every stage and my opinion sought when necessary. I was treated with respect by all staff from Receptionists to Consultants. From my initial appointment with the Nurse Practitioner to having the colonoscopy took 10 days.Thankfully it wasn't cancer but another condition. I would like to thank the staff at Barnsley for being caring and professional at a worrying and painful time.
