"Real sense of being cared for"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Endoscopy and day care

(as the patient),

I was very anxious about attending for this procedure.

From the moment that I was greeted at reception ( Ambulatory Care Unit , Forth Valley Royal Hospital ) everyone I met could not have been more kind or reassuring.

My named nurse ( Craig ) was knowledgeable, and reassuring. His interpersonal and clinical skills were excellent.

My progress through the department was smooth and efficient.

When I was moved to the procedure room the nurses were fantastic. Very positive, chatty and again reassuring.

My consultant was at hand immediately. He asked about my symptoms, and performed a thorough examination before the procedure began. He was authoritative, calm, and very helpful.

When my procedure began, I was particularly struck by how the nurses engaged me in conversation to distract me from what was happening.

I had had some sedation and the procedure was completed without pain or distress.

Everyone was wonderful. I had a real sense of being cared for from start to finish.

Thank you all.

Hi Joseph59,

Thank you for your lovely words. It is very helpful and encouraging for us to know we are providing the calm, reassuring service we strive towards.

As a team we feel it is extremely important that each patient's journey is as comfortable and reassuring throughout from all members of staff.

I will pass on your thanks to all the staff and on behalf of Craig, he would like to thank you for your kind words.

Best Regards

Sandra
