"Thank you to the chest pain service"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I attended medical cardiology after being referred from my gp for episodes of chest pain I have to say what wonderful staff on the whole.

I was greeted by a young man called callum who put me at ease straight away. I saw helen who was again wonderful.

I had to get an echogram done which was done by a member of staff who I think was having a bad day. This person had no time to talk to me to explain things and was quite rude. It made me feel uncomfortable, however this was put right by the girls doing my exercise test I can't praise them enough for spending time talking to me we even had a laugh so thank you karen and not sure the other girls name may have been heather. So on the whole thank you

Dear Patpat

Thank you for taking the time to post on care opinion website I am sorry you encountered a staff member being rude and that this made you feel uncomfortable - this falls below the standards we expect from our staff. If you would like to give me more details about this please contact my secretary Heather Harvey on 01355 584485 and I will arrange a time to speak with you.

It is however lovely to hear about the other staff members who have had a positive impact on your experience, this is the standard we pride ourselves in delivering here at University Hospital Hairmyres. I will ensure your feedback is given to the appropriate teams and I know they will be delighted.

Wishing you all the best

Kirsty

hi Patpat

Like Kirsty, I would also encourage you to get in touch (using above number). It's very important to us that staff are made aware when their communication is less than we would like. I think it's really important for us to help staff to understand and reflect on how their behaviours can impact on our patients, so that they can learn from this.

Thank you also for your positive feedback which I know Kirst has passed on to the team who were looking after you.

Please accept my best wishes for your recovery

Thanks

Susan
