"Outstanding care in A&E Department"

About: Warrington Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I had to attend the A&E Department due to my left side suddenly becoming weak. From the moment I arrived the care and attention I received was second to none, from reception to triage I was seen to very promptly and given great reassurance from the very caring Triage nurse who put my mind at ease while she checked my stats and took blood samples she made sure I had something to drink (she very kindly offered me some juice to put in my water) and was not in pain while I waited to be seen by a Dr I was constantly asked if I was alright or if I needed anything while I waited.

I then was looked after by a lovely senior nurse who gave me a very comprehensive check over and she herself pushed my trolley to have a CT scan where she waited for and brought me back and seen to it that I had a sandwich and some tea (which she made herself) when I think back to how busy the A&E was this kindness and level of care speaks volumes for the staff of Warrington  A&E.

The care I received was excellent I was assigned  a nurse who checked my vital signs on a regular basis I had heart scan and then I was seen by a Dr followed by the A&E Consultant who also examined and sent me for a doppler test on my carotid arteries, this time I was wheeled there by another senior member of the nursing staff which shows the high standard of teamwork and cooperation displayed by the staff. I would like to mention the lady who gave me the doppler test as she must be one of the kindest and warmest people I have ever met and again I was treated with great care.

I was collected and brought back to A& E by a very friendly and kind Porter and from there I was again seen by a Dr who told me all the tests they had carried out had come back clear however they wanted an MRI scan done which I will be having as an outpatient I was finally seen by a physio and the discharge medic to reassure themselves it was safe for me to go home and be able to manage the stairs etc

I am glad to report that I had regained a lot of strength in my left side and only had a limp to deal with for which I was supplied with a crutch. As you can read no stone was left unturned and no expense spared as these brilliant people worked so hard to help me. Their medical skills are excellent but their warmth caring and reassurance is what stands out for me as these are qualities cannot be learned in any college. My sincere and very grateful " Thank You" to each and every one  of you, You are all a credit to yourselves, to your profession and to Warrington Hospital.
