"Labour and post-natal experience"

About: Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust Royal Oldham Hospital / Maternity

(as a service user),

Labour Ward- Everything went smoothly up until delivery.

During Delivery- Slight drop in maintaining professionalism by doctors.

After delivery- good job of stitching up.
Transfer to postnatal ward:
- Fairly quick transfer;
- Upon arrival we were greeted by nurse/midwife @7:30;
- No further checkups until night staff started.
- Night nurses/midwife was nor briefed on patient and baby;
- No debrief of baby delivery, up until next day;
Comments to improve on:
- Staff need to be briefed about new patients on start of every shift to avoid mistakes;
- debrief patients after delivery;
