"Efficient Stroke care"

Having been brought to Hairmyres A and E by friends I was dealt with very quickly by staff.   The nurse in A and E was very decisive and moved me to the care of the doctors who were happy to listen to advice offered to them as well as making there own diagnosis.   There was an efficient video link to a consultant who very quickly sent me to receive a clot bursting drug which has proved to be very effective.   The following day assessment and search for the cause took place.   I was transferred quickly to different parts of the hospital and was always taken promptly.   Care was taken that my discharge was efficient and safe.   My condition was discussed and explained fully to me at all stages.   Since discharge the Stroke Nurse, Helen has been hugely supportive without being intrusive and provided great support.   Dr Yip continued to research possible causes and then met with me to explain fully the outcomes of all the research carried out.   At al times I felt fully able to ask any questions and make comments.   All appeared to be listened to.
