Last year I went to my GP with pain in my breast. I had a mammogram the week before my hospital consultation so the consultant knew the result when I arrived. I was asked to go next door for a scan and biopsy as they had discovered a small lump in my breast. I was shocked and stunned the following week when I got my results to be told I had cancer. My pre-operative assessment and surgery was arranged and done within 2 weeks. This was followed by radiotherapy. Everyone was kind, considerate and helpful. Thank you.
My daughter had pain in her breast and was referred by her GP in July. It took until last week for her to get the benign diagnosis. Nearly six weeks of stress and anxiety - as that Health Board did not have a good patient pathway.
Well done to those managers and clinicians who work together to design and implement effective patient pathways
"Breast Cancer - What a fantastic patient pathway!"
