"i wish never to come back and would not..."

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

What could be improved

there was a bed pan left in the bathroom of the 6 bedded ward, i asked twice for it to be removed so i could use the facilities the day after my op, one person said she couldn't but did not anyone who could, the next moved it on a chair in the bathroom and thought that was good enough. the third time was to the ward sister, she removed it straight away. it was too much trouble for one nurse to find another pillow for me saying they were in short supply. again when i asked the sister she brought me one straight back. what is wrong with todays nurses, where has the care gone. a lady opposite me who must have been in her 70 was left after she was given a shower sat in a chair with a gown that opens down the back sat next to the 2 wide open windows, she must have been in such a draft, her wet, we asked if the windows could shut so she would not be such a draft. there was no hury to get this lady into bed at night either. she was sat on her chair untill 10.30 asleep, she needed help with everything and this it seemed was just too much for the nurses, i even had to switch the main lights off myself at 10.45 so we could all get some rest post op. i am appalled and hope i will never have to return.

Anything else?

on the day of my discharge there was no rush to get my tablets or anything, as am awhare the discharge process is still part of nursing duties and there for should be done as well as possible, i was asked if i needed a sick note and from i was told that after a tonsillectomy you need 2 weeks off work. at 2.30 pm the doctor gave me one that lasted a week and said if i needed one for longer to go and see my gp. rediculous. was not happyDischarge processTonsillectomyBathroomDoctorsNursing staffPatient careWashroom
