"Restricted practices"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as a service user),

1. Individualised care is preached here but when 1 patients does wrong a blanket restriction is used. Hipocritical I believe

2. Less restricted practice is not occuring on my ward

3. Very negative feeling around the place at the moment

But I have survived so far and will continue to cope and make recovery possible with my progress that I have achieved here.

Thank you for your post. Within the hospital clinical practices should adhere to least restrictive principles and are based wherever possible on individualised risk assessments rather than blanket restrictions. I am sorry to hear that you feel there is negativity around at the moment. I would encourage you to attend your ward community meeting to discuss your feelings or invite you to attend the patient involvement meetings held within the hospital to explore your views further. As Interim Modern Matron for the Personality Disorder Service I am also happy to meet with you and discuss this further if that would be something you feel would be of benefit to you.
