The nurse on duty on the Eye Ward - 31 Jan 2011!

I have an emergency treatment card due to a recurring eye problem. I made the call just after six pm last night (31st Jan) and got through to her. Her cheerful, helpful manner immediately put me at ease.

As promised she called me back within 5 minutes and asked me to go in asap……”how quickly can you get your eye in to hospital” (a really nice way of letting me know that my eye is important). On arriving at the Ward she greeted me like an old friend, she was incredibly busy with discharging patients and could easily have been harassed, but wasn’t. She did the tests required by the Doctor before leaving me waiting for him to arrive and handing over to the on-call nurse – saying goodnight to me before she left.

I think she is a brilliant example of someone giving excellent customer service and a real asset to the team at York.
