"Frustrating, left in the dark about..."

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

What I liked

not a great deal!

What could be improved

I came in with my partner after a 999 call and was taken promptly to A&E before being transferred to CDU then Minster. After being told my partner would be admitted and monitored we were transferred and I had to chase, pester and complain until any of the team would get this actioned.

Following this the consultant was rude, aggressive, bullish, refused to engage either of us in conversation and simply stated there was nothing wrong and we were wasting the hospitals time despite following advice from a leading consultant from London who is investigating the problem. When we tried to engage him he simply stated 'well I'm not getting involved in a debate about this' and walked off. my partner was left shell shocked, upset, embarrassed and humiliated in front of the other doctors and patients on the ward. He was more concerned about getting the bed free than following the advice provide by one of the countries leading consultants in the field.

Aside from this issue we constantly find that communication between different shifts and wards seems non-existent with one shift nurse saying 'we'll get that sorted for you' and within the space of a few hours being told 'we wouldn't do that, who told you we could?'. Then when we are transferred between wards we're told certain elements of care would be delivered only to find out that, once on the ward, this does not happen.AggressiveRudeWardConsultantsDoctorsCommunicationOpening hoursPatient care
