In May of this year (2017), I needed a emergency Mitral Valve replacement in my heart. I went to my local hospital in Lerwick, where the cardiologist confirmed my diagnosis and told me that the air ambulance was on the way to take me to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for emergency open heart surgery. The staff that came to help me, were absolutely amazing. They kept me calm throughout the whole flight to Aberdeen, and monitored me closely. They were very informative and explained things very well when I asked any questions. The flight was also very smooth and quick, a credit to the pilots.. True professionals.

I cannot express enough thanks to these amazing people, who came to my aid when I needed help. A true God send to us..

This is fantastic feedback. Thank you very much for taking the time to show your appreciation for the care you received from our crews.

It must have been a worrying time for you and it is great to hear that our staff were able to keep you calm throughout the flight into Aberdeen. Our staff do an amazing job, often under difficult circumstances, and it is really encouraging to hear such positive feedback, particularly when it comes directly from patients themselves.

If it is ok with you, we will include your story in our next edition of our staff magazine so that both the crew involved, and other Scottish Ambulance Service staff, can read about your positive experience.
