"Paramedics deserving of commendations"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

Three paramedics, Charlie, Elaine and Ian responded to a '999' call from my wife, after she found me in a state of collapse (subsequently diagnosed as the result of pneumonia). They spent what seemed to be a very long time recovering me with what can only be described as exemplary care and attention. During this period Ian noticed that my wife appeared to be unwell from the effects of shock. While Charlie and Elaine continued with their care of me, Ian took exceptionally good care of her and I went to the ambulance only when they all agreed that both of us were in a fit state for me to do so. Throughout the episode all three maintained very welcome humour and both my wife's and my own spirits were high by the time I arrived at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. Following my admission they returned to me to 'check' on my progress.

I would, therefore, be very grateful if you would pass on my/our heartfelt thanks to these paramedics. Not only did they demonstrate the highest levels of professionalism, but they also showed deep kindness.

People with such qualities deserve not only our thanks but also professional commendation and recognition.

I have no wish to remain anonymous and would be delighted to be able to contribute further to the advancement and promotion of these three remarkable people if I could offer further endorsement that might be of use to you or them.

Dear circinusws76,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story and I hope you are recovering well.

It is always rewarding to hear stories of how our staff are delivering care and support to patients and those around them when they need it most.

We would be happy to share your story with the ambulance staff involved in your care, however, to do so we will need some specific information. If you would like us to do this, please may I ask you to contact us on either plaudits@swast.nhs.uk or 01392 453 831 and a member of the Patient Engagement Team will be happy to help you further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide us with feedback.

Kind regards,

Sharifa
