"Excellent care at Ayr Hospital"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Urology Renal (Kidney) Medicine & Dialysis University Hospital Ayr

(as the patient),

Was rushed in to Ayr Hospital from Crosshouse Hospital after being diagnosed with Sepsis and a massive kidney stone. Despite all efforts, the doctors were unable to clear the infection which resulted in having a kidney removed. The nurses and doctors that looked after me during my 8 weeks in hospital were exceptional, despite being severely under pressure due to understaffing and the amount of paperwork that they have to undertake.

If it wasn't for the hard work and diligence of everyone at Ayr, from the nursing assistants, auxiliaries, nurses and doctors, safe to say, I wouldn't be here to write this review today.

A huge thanks to all involved.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear emacayrshire,

Wow, this is quite an experience you have had, it must have been quite frightening and possibly one that changes your outlook to some things in life.

I will take great pleasure in passing on your 'huge thanks' to the team. Thank you for taking time to write this post and I am delighted that you are here to do so.

I hope you are fully recovered now,

Best wishes,

Eunice

Update posted by emacayrshire (the patient)

Thanks for your kind comments Eunice.

The saga didn't end in Ayr! I ended up with a massive pulmonary embolism and was admitted to Crosshouse where, again, I received fantastic care. Three lives used up so far! lol

All is well now though, thanks to our wonderful NHS.

I feel that people are too good at expressing their feelings over a bad experience, but not enough praise is given for the good experiences.

Everyone in station 4 was exceptional and Dr Medding and Dr Hollins were amazing. I have them and the nurses and auxilliaries from station 4 to thank for my recovery. Job well done everyone! Will never be able to thank you all enough.

You are most welcome.

I am very pleased to hear you are well now. I will make sure this is also shared with the teams. Please try not to use up any more lives, unless you are sure you are a cat in disguise and you know for sure that you have 6 more left!.

Take care

Eunice
