"Looking after my wee girl"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

A few weeks ago my 10 month old daughter had a "blue breath holding spell".   I phoned ADOC and we went up to A&E at Crosshouse.

She was examined by a nurse and a doctor who did a fabulous job of managing a wriggly baby and was admitted to 1A for an ECG and a couple of hours observation.

Everyone from the call handler to the paediatric doctor was wonderful, they took our fears seriously and couldn't have been better with my girl. Thank you all so much!

Dear Alysse,

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. I am pleased you felt listened to. Having a sick child can be frightening and I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been for you to witness her 'blue breath holding spell'.

We use all the feedback we receive to make improvements within our department. We believe that we can learn from excellence and I will therefore ensure your comments are fed back to our whole team. If you would like your comments to be sent directly to the staff who saw your daughter in the Emergency Department please email me your daughters name and date of attendance to claire.gilroy@nhs.net.

I am sure your comments will give a boost to staff morale on Monday morning.

Claire
