"Cannot thank the whole team highly enough,..."

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Cardiothoracic surgery

Admitted for a left upper lobe lobotomy and double sleeve resection. From the moment I was admitted in the early hours of Wednesday the 25th of October the care and communication I received was nothing short of excellent. I knew every step of the way what was going to happen and why.

The anesthetist was the last person I spoke to before entering the operating theater, whom again was very professional, explained fully what they were going to do, and how they would be looking after me during surgery, and with a sense of humor to help keep me claim. Anesthetist often get forgotten. I would like to thank them for taking good care of me during my long and complicated operation !

Before I knew it I was awake in the intensive care unit where I was informed me that the operation had gone to plan and they managed the sleeve resection as apposed to removing the whole lung. They knew I was hoping for this and made sure I knew as soon as possible after coming round.

I felt comfortable and pain free. The staff in CITU was fabulous and took excellent care of me around the clock, constantly checking I was pain free and going on to teach me exercises for myself and to help build my lungs strength.

On day 3 I was moved on to ward 38, relived I was going on to the general ward, so felt like a move towards recovery I felt like I was leaving good friends behind...

The staff on ward 38 was a continuation of what I had now become accustomed to, The professionalism, yet friendliness and care was truly heart warming. After two days I knew there names and felt like they was friends, not just paid staff looking after another statistic.

I have a fear of hospitals and used to hate even going to visit someone. The whole team at Blackpool has opened my eyes and totally changed my view.

I cannot thank the whole team enough and will be forever in your debt, There are hospitals, there are good hospitals, there are excellent hospitals. Then there is Blackpool hospital.

I would like to thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of my heart, you guys are amazing and go over and above what is expected to ensure each person is treated with the upmost care X

I would also like to thank my surgeon and the anaesthetist. I feel 10 years younger and I owe it all to you !!

Good Afternoon,

Firstly I hope that you are recovering well from your recent complicated surgery. Thank you for taking the time to feedback to us about the excellent care that you received throughout your journey from theatre, to Cardiac Intensive Care to Ward 38. It is lovely to read that you felt they went above and beyond what is expected of them.

It is wonderful to see that because of the care that you received here at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals your view on hospitals has changed which has ultimately lessened the fear you had previously.

I will pass your feedback on to the teams in Cardiac theatres, Cardiac Intensive Care and Ward 38. They will be pleased to read the positive impact they had on you during such a difficult time.

Kindest Regards
