I joined this surgery shortly after moving to Basildon in 1985. It was quite new then and staff were excellent. We raised 2 girls in Basildon and have always been happy to go to Kingswood Medical Centre. Around 2009 my wife had cause to visit the surgery, it was an emergency appointment as she was in so much pain. Without going into major details over the next 2, yes 2 years, she was basically told it was her age, hormones and even imagination. Many times a week I would wake up to her crying in pain but still they said it was her age... turned out to be fibroids that resulted in major surgery. I myself have had some bad experiences too.... for example a bacterial stomach ulcer, a prescription was given, went to chemist to be told it was written out wrong, went back to surgery and luckily enough a doctor was in reception and amended the prescription. After taking the medicine I was fine for 1 month but then it came back, went back to the doctors and was told nothing more could be done and I would need to take anti acid tablets for the rest of my life!... A month later I had an accident at work and was taking to Paddington hospital where I was treated, while I was there the doctor asked about any other issues, I explained about my ulcer, the doctor wasnt happy and wrote me a prescription, after taking the medicine for 2 weeks I have now been ulcer free for 2 years. There are a lot of other things that have been mis diagnosed or basically ignored. My wife has a panic attack at the mere thought of calling the surgery so I make appointments if needed. There are a couple of receptionists that think they are god and talk at you, there are some nice ones though. As for the doctors, there are always changes, never seem to be able to keep them there for more than a few years. One doctor is rude and arrogant but does seem to get things done, there are other doctors here and whilst they seem nicer they dont actually seem to care.. you get wheeled in and wheeled out without much information coming your way. I have resorted to going private at a surgery miles away for minor stuff...
My wife and I are desperately trying to find another surgery local to use as we are both getting older and the thought of relying on this surgery for our old age health care is a scary thought. I also find it funny the surgery dont seem to like replying to negative comments.
