over a year ago I started having pain in my right hip.
I am active and working full time self employed in construction industry. I was referred for an x ray by local gp on Arran , back in May , results showed degeneration of hip.
I was referred to Orthapedics for physio , I was told it could be up to 30 days for appointment , when I had no response , I paid for a scan and consultation with consultant surgeon at Ross hall, this was in July.
The results of scan showed considerable deterioration of hip , recommending replacement of hip,and copy of letter was sent to my GP on Arran , subsequently having still no response from NHS re physio I then received a letter from that dept stating I was discharged as I had failed to attend an appointment.
The fact is I did not attend the appointment as I never received an appointment !!. i then referred back to my GP on Arran , and was informed that as I had been discharged.
I was then out of the system and would have to start again ,the hip has since deteriorated to an extent where I can not function at work , with loss of earnings , can not sleep ,which is affecting both my physical and mental health and am expected to turn up for a physio appointment later on this year.
When its not physio I require its a replacement as the letter from private consultation shows , I have paid tax and insurance loyally for the last 40 years , I have the utmost respect for the people who work in the nhs, but the system has failed me.
I now have to make the decision if to cash in part of my pension to meet the private cost of an operation as I am now unable to work on a daily basis and looks unlikely of an operation through the nhs is going to be fast tracked
