"Reduced Leave"

About: Men's Pathway - Hurst Ward

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Due to staff shortages in Birmingham, they have cut our leave for the past three weeks.    Therefore I cannot go on my usual community leave to go shopping.  My community leave is now restricted to once a week.

They have put other leave on like ‘walking groups’ but this is not the same as my individual leave entitlement.

How can they be integrating us back into society, and be cutting back on our leave?

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry to hear that your leave has been affected by some of the challenges we have had recently in regards to staffing. This has been because of high activity on some wards, meaning that even with the best planning we end up having to prioritise activities across site.

However, I am interested that you have been affected by this on a number of occasions, as decisions to reduce or cancel leave should be taken fairly, and not affect only 1 person. If you would be willing to talk to me further about this, please let your nurse manager know and I will arrange to come and see you.
