Hi, I'm writing this on behalf of my husband who recently had a full hip operation.
He was on Derwent ward and he was a bit apprehensive being an age of 82 (a young 82 I might add).
He knew what it was all about as I had mine done nearly four years ago and I was amazed myself with my quick recovery, but everyone is different. He has been home two weeks now, stitches removed and walking around indoors with one crutch. Obviously when we go out he uses both at the moment. He is amazed himself at how he feels and fortunately has not had to have high medication just paracetamol as instructed.
We have always had high regard for bournemouth hospital, staff going that extra mile to make you feel at ease and comfortable. The same goes for the surgeon and team in theatre. And as for the epidural you are given, for anyone that's concerned it's the best way to go with no after effects.
Hope this puts anyone's mind at rest if approaching to have hip operation
Thank you again Derwent staff
