"Short stay in hospital"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Recently had a short stay (6 days) in ward 4e in Crosshouse hospital. After listening to some of the horror stories going about regarding the NHS I was a little apprehensive.

What I found really was a high level of excellence and a hard working culture. The staff in the hospital and the ward were second to none and even although the staff in the ward were always under pressure, there was always help, encouragement or even just a kind word on offer for the patients.

The level of cleanliness in the ward was also very high and when watching it was obvious the level of training needed to achieve the various tasks required. Hygiene was of the essence, yet things were done with a smile.

Having witnessed the job that these nurses do it is very obvious to me that they are overworked and underpaid, and maybe the relevant government ministers should be looking where the extra funds are going, because I feel that without help this wonderful asset of front line nursing staff could bend and eventually break.

Thank you all in 4e

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Robert.

Thank you so much for this lovely testament to our front line staff and the cleanliness of the ward. You are right, you do hear horror stories and these can be very concerning for all to hear. When things need to be addressed, we need to know, but it is equally important to hear the other side of the coin for staff morale. I am delighted that you found the staff 'second to none'.

I will make sure that the team see and share your post. I hope you are well now,

best wishes

Eunice
