"My knee operation and stay on Arethusa ward"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Recently i got a call from my consultants secatary to say there was a canellation the next day for my knee operation,so i said yes, hoping that it wouldnt be cancelled for the second time,

Arrived on the pre operative care unit at 6 45am,got booked in,feeling rather anxious and nervous that it would get cancelled,at 1pm i was told to get ready for theatre,at 1 40pm theatre staff came to get me,made relaxed while waiting to be put to sleep, woke up in recovery,my consultant come to see me,but i cant remember what he said,i was in abit of pain, and was checked and given extra pain relief, had water, cup of tea and sandwich,i was the last to leave recovery, recovery staff nice and friendly,at 11 15pm i was moved to Arethusa ward, before being told i might have to spend the night in recovery i didnt mind as the got me off the trolley onto a bed,

the night staff where lovely when i got to ward,my stay on the ward was good, all the nursing staff, cleaning staff and meal staff where all lovely and pleasant, most of the time i was very sick, due to medication, not eating enough, luckily the nursing staff where very understanding,i was seen by physio and they where great,

i was discharged on a tuesday evening, they knew on the monday i was going home tuesday, why wait till 7 30pm to bring up medication from pharmacy, that was the only bad thing about it,so i would like to say a big thank you to my consultants secatary,my consultant, pocu nurses, recovery staff, nurses on Arethusa ward, physios on the ward, cleaning staff and meal staff,

i just have to wait for my 6 week appointment to be seen in outpatients in 6 weeks time, and listen to what my consultant has to say, thank you all once again

There is something else I need help with when on the ward I was seen by physios and they were going to order me mould crutches but I haven't heard anything yet, I contacted pals but haven't had a helpful response, where would they have ordered them from so I could chase it up?

Dear Rosanda,

I have spoken with PALS who tell me that Physiotherapy have been contacted and have confirmed that the crutches have been ordered. As soon as they are ready Physiotherapy will be in contact with you.

Kindest regards,
