"Volunteering at Hawton Children's Centre"

About: Hawtonville Children's Centre

(as a volunteer/advocate),

I joined a training course last October to become a Perinatal Support Worker. It was a great course and I learnt lots of new skills. I was also offered the opportunity to take part in additional courses, such as Paediatric First Aid and  Speech and language courses.

Once we had completed the training I was able to meet new mums to offer support and someone to talk to, in the early days of bringing home a new baby.

I really enjoyed my time volunteering at Hawtonville Children's Centre and the new skills  and confidence that I gained whilst being a volunteer have helped me to apply for jobs and I am happy to say I start in a new role as a one to one teaching assistant very soon.

Congratulations! We are so pleased that you have gained new skills and confidence while volunteering for us. We really value the contribution that our volunteers to make to our service and the support they offer to families who use those services, and it is brilliant to hear that you have gained so much as well.

We hope your new career goes well, and thank you for helping us to support others.
