We took our daughter to Ninewells A& E after she had overdosed. She has a history of doing this and having driven there quite fast it was 2 hours before my wife finally grabbed a nurse and demanded some attention.
We were not sure what she had taken or know if it was life threatening.
Having gone to the reception desk 3 times to explain that my daughter was passing out, this got little or no response. Nobody had assessed how she was or how bad she was due to the overdose. As I said my wife finally got hold of a nurse and we were finally seen. My daughter was admitted to hospital she still had the effects of the drugs.
I realise that people were waiting before us but it would have been good to have someone assess my daughter to find out how urgent she should have been seen. As far as I could tell the majority of people in the waiting room had broken bones or other non life threatening conditions. Nobody came to see what state our daughter was in.
