The team sprint 1 week working with my daughter’s class (p6). Throughout the week the students learnt about different aspects of health and well-being. The week finished with a finale where the students showcased their learning for parents with sketches they had written and planned themselves. Topics covered included bullying, healthy eating and exercise.
I offered to be a parent helper on the last day. This allowed me the chance to see the team in action and here the class discuss how they felt about the up coming finale and award stickers to their classmates. Each nomination had to be accompanied by a valid reason and it was great to hear how positive the children were about the contributions of their classmates. I was very impressed by the reasons behind their nominations.
I was surprised at my daughter’s enthusiasm for the salmon boats and she was keen to make these at home for me - they were delicious.
The finale was great. The sketches about bullying must have stemmed from some thought provoking discussions and I hope that these lessons learned won’t be forgotten.
My daughter loved the whole week and felt at times she was pushed out of her comfort zone but was proud of how she coped.
"I hope that these lessons learned won’t be forgotten."
