"My C-section"

About: St Mary's Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Went in labour but baby lifted his head! !

I was left begging for an epidural for over 40 minutes because of a staff change over but was taken to theatre to have the anaesthetic epidural that works immediately. Forceps were going to be attempted and while waiting on a contraction a doctor decided I would be too tired so a C section was the best option! ! It was over quickly baby cleaned and handed to daddy everything went strangely quiet!

Asking if everything was ok we were told I had lost a little more blood than normal but all is fine!

Never ever told more than this. Back on delivery suite I was in shocking pain and was like this from Friday to Sunday, in between all this I was ignored I was told it was because I needed to get out of bed and motivate. Not a single person took notice of me unable to eat drink hold my own baby get out of bed and constantly being sick. Sunday came I was told off for not feeding my baby and my baby was pushed on to me even while I was being sick with a bowl in one hand!

Baby cried I buzzed for help a midwife came in went to get the milk and never came back! I buzzed for assistance again this time completely ignored. I grabbed my phone which was next to me and begged my partner to come quick. 25 minutes it takes by taxi and on arrival no one had been in my sick bowl was full and baby was highly stressed at this point I was also swollen on this day I couldn't even close my fingers and my torso felt like it was being crushed! My partner was angry went out on to the ward corridor to speak to staff. Next thing my room was full of staff and before I knew it I was having scans!

My ureter had been damaged but wasn't told this on results I was just told I had fluid on my kidney!  I had a tube put in my back to drain the fluid which I still have 17 month on!

Last month I was told I had a cat 1 emergency c section that my bladder had to be dissected down to get baby out resulted in blood loss and needing assistance to stop the bleed! Why wasn't me or my partner told in the hospital? I believe no one was ever going to tell me this and if I hadn't  got as poorly as I did I would never of known!

You never even mentioned it in my discharge notes or on the babies examination day where in the form it asks about any complications during birth. Why not? Maybe this isn't true maybe my bladder was hit not dissected is this what it is I deeply believe so! Baby's time of birth has changed too only by 1 minute I have print outs of their  time of birth I was told in hospital the weight and time of birth why is it different now?

I find it alarming I was told nothing other than I lost a little more blood than normal and nothing more! I’m left feeling horrified I don't know how to deal with what has happened to me as it's been drip fed over months. What if I got home and I needed to go to my gp with bladder issues like not holding my bladder like I used to, My gp wouldn't of known why either!

I still don't know how many stitches my bladder had. I was left days right until my kidney almost lost its function.

I feel like the hospital has tried to cover all this up and that the information in my medical records and the information sent to my GP is incorrect. St Mary's Manchester .... you have destroyed my life and I will never be the same.
