What I liked
That I did have an xray and was seen quite quickly.
What could be improved
I was hit by a car while cycling, my right elbow hit the ground hard and the was a large deep graze and a deep cut. I couldnt see the extent of the wound myself but the ambulance staff told me it was a deep cut and a large graze. There was a 10cm pool of blood so I knew the cut must have been deep. I told the junior doctor this.
I had an xray and by this time the elbow was very sore, the xray technician showed no care and just wanted me to hurry up.
A senior doctor also had a look at the xray and the wound, it was cleaned by the junior doctor and a bandage applied. I was then sent home.
A friend from work had joined me at the hospital so took me to work first before she took me home. At work the bleeding started again so they applied a new bandage on top. I got home, sat down after a shower and my hand started to feel numb and getting blue so the bandage was too tight, despite this the bleeding continued. I rang the a&e where i had been seen and informed the nurse about my blue hand and the bleeding and asked if i could come back in. She asked me to try to put another bandage on!!
I then went to the Royal Bolton hospital instead where I was seen straight away. The wound was cleaned up more and sutured and a new not too tight bandage was applied. The bleeding then stopped.
